HOW TO MAKE GBEGIRI SOUP USING BEAN FLOUR
Gbegiri soup (beans soup) is a popular Nigerian cuisine often eaten by the Yoruba tribe. The soup is a trinity lol, ( its usually eaten with Ewedu soup and stew with any African swallow especially Amala.)
Cooking Gbegiri soup in the traditional method as we know requires a lot of time and effort. From picking beans to washing, soaking, blending then cooking.
This is the easiest and quickest but absolutely delicious Gbegiri recipe that you'll ever taste!
● Ingredients;
Bean flour (from a trusted company)
Palm oil
Crayfish
Smoked fish (optional)
Seasonings (knorr cubes, salt)
1 1/2 cup of Water
- Add 1 cup of warm water into a mixing bowl, then add 1/2 cup of bean flour.
- Heat up 1/4 cup of palm oil in a nonstick pot
- Add soft smoked fish into oil. (Can use crayfish if you prefer). Fry for 1min.
- Add seasoning cube and salt to taste. Stir to mix.
-Pour in bean flour mixture and continue stirring on low heat for 10mins
- Add water if it becomes too thick. It should have a soup consistency.
Serve while warm. Preserve the rest in the fridge. Should stay fresh for a week.
